Kochikame (Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen Mae Hashutsujo) recently ended after 40 years of serialization in Shonen Jump. Kochikame, a gag manga about a policeman who does absolutely no real police work, was loved by salary men and children alike, and garnered quite a large following. It was the inspiration for many modern manga artists/authors, and its departure from publication resulted in artistic tributes from a plethora of different mangakas. I’ve made a compilation of the tributes:
Ever wondered why the main character of Gakkou Gurashi wears a cat hat?
There is a Japanese idiom:
When taken literally, the phrase means “to wear a cat on one’s head”.
However, as an idiom, the phrase means to “pretend to be innocent and sweet”.
Well since we are getting a lot of these nominations, might as well contribute to the pool and share some love.
HAHAHAHAHA! WE’RE ALIVE!
Bet you didn’t see that coming given our lack of activity.
So we are currently in Japan. Lotsa good food and cultural stuff. Nice temples and shrines and history. Visited Akihabara.
Just wanted to let you all know that I am now broke.
(Nice picture right)
I have a few things to apologize for, so i’m making a post about it.
Mankind’s original fascination with napes predates modern documentation, and the exact history of the fascination is limited at best. The word “Nape” itself offers some historical evidence as to when the area was first recognized as a separate entity from the neck, however sources are vague and it is hard to pin down when exactly this occurred.
