Review: Black Bullet

And the review for one of the more interesting shows last season. This show is definitely about the development of a loli harem, disguised as an action anime to save Tokyo from monsters (definitely not the other way around).

I have good reason for my claim as well.

First of all, lolis… lolis everywhere. With the idea of using the “cursed children” to fight back against these monsters as they were also affected by said monsters. Coincidentally, they all happen to be female children. There is good reason for them to only be children, since they all could have only been bored a certain amount of years ago leaving the oldest of them at around 10 (gastrea war happened 10 years ago). The reason they are only female is something that i’m not entirely sure about, but is good for the “plot”.

With the main character, Rentaro, working as a civil officer, he also has one of these lolis living with him, working with him, and following him around. Enju (the loli mentioned above) also happens to love Rentaro for no explained reason. Needless to say she is extremely cute.

Oh, but that’s not all, there is the introduction of ANOTHER cute loli (Tina) that also falls in love with Rentaro after a few interactions. This “love” ends up being strong enough that she defies her own master to carry out her mission properly and ultimately joins Rentaro.

Here is a great picture of the two!

It doesn’t end there

He gets more…

Out of generosity and his kind heart, he ends up teaching a class of cursed children (just think of it as more lolis). This isn’t even a few, there are approximately 20 students, and after a few classes, they all happen to like Rentaro one way or another. With some wanting to court him, and others just like him. This ultimately ends up like:

black-bullet-10-1

Thinking about all of this practically though, a loli harem would make Rentaro the most overpowered civil officer in Japan. If he continues to gather more “initiators” like Enju and Tina, then he would have a massive army of these overpowered little girls instead of the usual one. All under him.

To quote a few people:

One quote on Neregate by a commenter:

“Lol, 5 minutes before I visited neregate I was telling my friend that Black Bullet is turning me into lolicon. ;p” – Urizithar

One quote from the anime:

“You’re a vital part of my little girl harem plan, so there is no way I am letting you get away” – Interesting doctor “translating” what Rentaro said.

This is what it will ultimately lead to.

Okay… On a more serious note, the anime has been a very interesting watch from the very start. Featuring decent action, a good story line, and cute girls. All the arcs were an interesting watch and nothing really ended up sucking.

The First arc was a great way to introduce everything, with Rentaro questioning their society and the masked dude taking it even further. Rentaro ultimately having to reveal his augmented body (FMA much).

The most important thing about the second arc was really introduction of Tina. And well, if you really care, revealing the corruption of their society.

Third arc, The great war. Good last arc with it’s fair share of cliched problem (bomb to save the city not going off, hmmm… where have i heard that before). But with the last arc where it was, it’s hard for the series to go any further in terms of defending the city as everything will pale in comparison. I am going to assume that they are either going to work towards cleansing the city of it’s corruption and/or shift towards fighting humans and/or going out to exterminate the Gastrea instead of waiting for them to come.

Additional Information from Mich6575:

In terms of music, the OP and ED tracks were great in bringing out the mood wanted. Though the OP sounded a bit like SnK’s at first, making me go wtf. It even had the symbolic walls of protection too, double wtf. For animation and art, it was good for an actiony type of anime. However, one thing that I didn’t really enjoy was some 3D CG, though thats just personal preference. 2D > 3D everywhere.

The show ended with multiple things that will leave the audience anticipating a second season, and probably make it one of the most hyped series when it does come out. With the reintroduction of the masked man, who questions Rentaro’s philosophy and states that he will definitely join him, and a great cliffhanger at the end (Kisara’s fucking scary), I’m pretty almost everyone who watched the show will be happy to have a second season that will have these things unfold.

Loved the show

P.S. … lolis…
